Moroccan Berber Wedding Blanket Pillow
Handmade Moroccan Pillow
We picked this beauty up in Marrakech!
Moroccan wedding blankets, also known as Handira, are very significant in Berber culture. The female relatives of the bride spend countless hours of love and dedication hand weaving a blanket to give to their loved one on the day of her wedding. These blankets are woven in the Middle Atlas Mountains out of sheep's wool, linen and cotton and include intricate sequin detailing. After the wedding ceremony, the bride wears her blanket around her neck, almost like a cape, as she makes her way home with her new husband. Every textile has a story and we are so happy to share these pillows with you as a little token of a story that is so special to Morocco.
*Pillow comes unstuffed
Size: Approx. 20x20in
We recommend using Poly-Fil to stuff this pillow. The seam at the top is not wide enough to fit an insert.
***There is no zipper on this pillow. There is an opening of about 5 inches on the top seam to stuff the cushion. We recommend a quick sew to close it up.
Dry Clean or Spot Clean Only
Due to the nature of vintage pieces and older fabrics, there may be slight wear from time but this is what gives them such a striking look. No two patterns will ever be the same.
